Kirkin' o' the Tartans
The Duluth Scottish Heritage Association carries on its tradition of hosting a Kirkin’ O’ the Tartan Evensong Service and High Tea this year at First Presbyterian Church in Duluth on November 19th starting at 5:00 p.m. DSHA members, guests and the public are invited to attend.
The Evensong service begins with members of the Highland Dance class performing a reel in the aisles of the church. The service itself is a traditional evensong using elements from the time of John Knox. During the service there will be an opportunity to present your clan tartan for blessing, a tradition carried from Scotland to the New World.
Following the service, you can look forward to being entertained by the DSHA Highland dancers and the Pipes and Drum Band.
Parking is available in the two newly paved lots below the church or the city parking ramp on First Street, half a block from the church. Using the alley entrance with the blue awning is recommended as it has easy access to the elevator. The sanctuary is on the third floor. The third avenue east entrance and the main entrance on second street will also be available. This is always an enjoyable time. We look forward to seeing you.
